Wesley Place is featured in the 1854-1855 Belfast Street Directory. It contains this listing: “Wesleyan Methodist Meeting house – ministers, Rev. Mr McCoy, and Rev. Mr Huston”. This would seem to indicate the street takes its name from this Methodist building.
