Named after a townland in Rashee parish, Co. Antrim. Tildarg is located on high ground and contains the peak Big Collin (353m). The reason for the choice of name is unclear at present.
Application of the owner: Mr John Elliott - a street on his property situate off Woodstock road be named Tildarg Street. Town Improvement Committee, 27th April 1898. On the application of the owners a new street off Crumlin Road named "Wansbeck Street” and a new street of the Woodstock Road “TIldarg Street” as reported in the Irish News and Belfast Morning News on Thursday 28 April 1898.
