“Resolved that a new street of 70 feet width from the Queen’s Bridge to May Street in a line along the Flax and Fruit Market leaving ground for the probable extension of this street to join a new street in a direct line from the Lagan Bridge as shown on plan No one and that it be called Oxford Street.” (19th February 1849).
