Killeen is a very common place-name which may be derived either from Ir. coillín, 'little wood' or Ir. cillín. The latter may mean either 'little church' or may denote a graveyard for unbaptised children. There is an instance of the name as a townland in the parish of Holywood.  It is not clear whether this Killeen Park in West Belfast is named after a minor place-name in the neighbourhood or somewhere further afield.
