Gransha Road

Gransha Road
BT5
Whereas many townland names are anglicised from the Irish, Gransha (Irish: an ghráinseach) is one of those rare gaelicised words, denoting a grange. Granges were usually supplementary, outlying estates acquired by medieval monasteries to provide additional supplies for the community - probably, in this instance, for the Cistercian establishment at Comber.
