“That on the application of the owner Mr James McCaughey a new street on his property situate off Cliftonville Road be named Lower Easton Street”. (Improvement Committee, 20th July 1892). Lower Easton Street as a name is no longer used.
"On the application of the owners your committee have named a new street off Cliftonville, Easton Crescent.” (Northern Whig - Tuesday 02 January 1894).
There was an advertisement for the sale of property in the Belfast News-Letter on Friday 26 September 1884 for "Cliftonville Property, known as Easton Lodge". Easton Lodge also features on the Ordinance Survey map (1838 - 1862).
This would seem to indicate the "Easton streets" take their name from Easton Lodge.
