"That on the application of the owner Mr Edward Hughes, two new streets off Springfield Road leading to Cavendish Street be named, Crocus Street and Violet Street and that he be requested to submit another name instead of St Paul Square as there is a St Paul Street in another part of the city". Crocus Street and Violet Street were called after spring flowers.
