Named after the city of Kanpur (formerly Cawnpore) in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India.

We have Cawnpore Street, Lucknow Street, Havelock Street and Place, Lawrence Street, and Outram Street. Delhi Street probably comes from the same source, but was built much later."
