The minutes of the Town Improvement Committee of Belfast Corporation on 22 April 1896 indicate the naming of three new streets off the Crumlin Road: Palmer Street, Chief Street and Bray Street. The Belfast And Province Of Ulster Directory 1897 lists Bray Street off Crumlin Road. There are RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) officers listed as living at addresses there.
