Apparently named after a suburb of Liverpool. Aigburth Park forms part of a small group of names connected with Liverpool or Merseyside in this part of East Belfast. There is also Sefton Drive and Sefton Park nearby. All these names were given in the 1930s. Elsewhere in Belfast there are other names from Lancashire, such as Altcar Court, Hornby Street and Carnforth Street off Albertbridge Road, while Shankill has Bootle Street, Eccles Street and Rusholme Street. This list is not comprehensive as other Lancashire names are found further afield in Belfast.
